SquitterPro 2.5-D altitude view: aircraft on altitude stems over satellite terrain around San Diego
Your local airspace in 2.5-D. Every aircraft sits on a stem at its true altitude, over satellite terrain.

Wait, what's a squitter?

An aircraft's Mode S transponder broadcasts a short burst of data about once a second without being asked: its identity, altitude, and position. That unprompted broadcast is called a squitter, a blend of "squirt" and "transmitter". The extended version, 1090ES, is what every ADS-B receiver listens for. Your antenna hears thousands of them a day, and SquitterPro is what remembers them.

Not another live map

tar1090 and Virtual Radar Server show you what's overhead right now. SquitterPro keeps track of what your station has accomplished.

See everything, and get told when it matters

Hundreds of aircraft at once, from your receiver and free community feeds. SquitterPro sits in the tray and fires a Windows alert when a watched aircraft returns, a drone shows up, someone squawks 7700, or you set a new distance record. Live emergency cockpit messages get flagged in red.

Read the cockpit messages

Decode the ACARS / VDL / HFDL messages aircraft exchange with the ground: position reports, weather, dispatch notes, and emergencies. Tap a plane for its photo, operator, and live telemetry. Optional AI turns the cryptic ones into plain English.

Weather, right on the map

Overlay live precipitation radar and pull area METARs, so you can see the weather your traffic is flying through, draped over the same satellite terrain.

Trends over time

Distinct aircraft per hour, day, or year by category. Are military flights increasing? More drones this month? The chart answers, using nothing but your own station's data.

Everything it does

📒

A life list for aircraft

Every airframe you've ever received, with photo, operator, type, and how many times it's visited. Like an eBird life list, for your antenna.

🚁

Military traffic, obvious at a glance

Fighter and attack-helicopter icons in olive drab, driven by ICAO type data, so Black Hawks look like Black Hawks and not like Cessnas. Filter to just the traffic you care about.

📡

Range records that mean something

All-time furthest reception with the aircraft's full details at the record moment, plus a 360° coverage envelope built from your receiver's own statistics.

🗻

2.5-D altitude view

An isometric view of your airspace, with every aircraft on a stem at its true altitude. The vertical structure of your local traffic, at a glance.

How it compares

The free tools are excellent at showing you the current moment. Paid trackers are excellent at covering the whole planet. SquitterPro is for the part neither one does: keeping a permanent record of what your antenna heard.

Built by a receiver owner, for receiver owners

SquitterPro is built in Jamul, California by Anthony Rose — a retired Navy EOD technician who put an ADS-B receiver on the roof and wanted to know what was flying over the house. San Diego airspace obliged: airliners into KSAN, Black Hawks and Super Hornets out of Miramar and North Island, and the occasional surprise from far out over the Pacific.

Nothing existing kept score. The live maps forgot every aircraft the moment it left the screen. So SquitterPro treats your antenna like a birder treats binoculars: every contact goes in the book.

SquitterPro is an independent one-person project, built and supported directly by its maker.
